This hatchling appears to be... dead?

Perhaps not. It seems to be active during the night.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

More bark then bite, was so named because of the fact of once it became a more active hatchling. It would taunt all of the older dragons, and would go as far as growling at them in a challenge. While most of the time, The older dragons would laugh and ignore the little hatchling. One of the more grumpier adults didn't and challenged him. He quickly ran away and now even when a hatchling challenges him to a simple rough housing play, he runs away. While he might seem mostly wimpy, He is very intelligent and can be nice, when he isn't rudely challenging every dragon he sees.
