Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nikmi spends several hours a day eating bugs, befitting a striped dragon, but she's been slowly developing an "All Around Insects Nikmi Likes Trap", a set of faintly glowing bug traps that would catch all sorts of bugs but not other tiny critters like  pygmy dragons and songbirds. Her ulterior goal, actually, is to begin a baked treats business. So far so good. She has a red and a pyralspite friend who help her with the baking, and they even sometimes do the dough for her when she's especially busy with the All Around Trap. The trio have experimented with various fillings and types of insects and have their likes and dislikes, but all three agree that the grasshopper- and cricket-sprinkled chocolate chirp cookies have the most potential.
