Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Benebula Cumbersmaug cannot stay still. He tosses and turns in his sleep, he fidgets in circles when he eats, and he hates dull conversations. Every evening, he leaves the cavern to fly above the clouds and often gets himself lost for the entirety of the night. His mate is the only soul to know what he means to do above those clouds, not that he's tried to keep it a secret. Inquisitive types do not keep secrets, in fact, they do the exact opposite. Rather than guard any knowledge, they seek to discover new knowledge to share with the world. This explains Benebula's behaviour; he is attempting to wrest the stars of their secrets. He must solve their mysteries and share his findings with the world. However, he is never successful and many times has been thrown into a fit of rage with frustration, screaming his curses to the cold night sky and receiving naught but flickering pinpricks of light in return.
