Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Despite being as black as outer space, it has a few bright patterns on it.

And look! It has grown wings and its scales have gained beautiful patterns. It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Lady Cumbersmaug is very warm, like her mother, but in a more personal manner. Perhaps she takes after her father more than she admits, for she enjoys discovering the habits and secrets of as many dragons as possible. The adults tend to laugh her off but the hatchlings, both halted like her or still growing, often indulge her desire to know their inner workings. Lady is very close with many of her fellow age-defying hatchlings and sometimes wishes she knew how to reverse the curse cast upon them. However, the hatchling knows that the Specialist cast the spell for a purpose and desires every eternal hatchling in her care, so she often scolds herself for wishing such things. When not coaxing private information out of her peers, Lady is found with her mother, chirping along with the adult's musical voice.
