Black Tea Dragons have small scent glands on the underside of their wing arm that release a pleasant scent. Though many creatures enjoy being in the vicinity of Black Tea dragons, the scent is intended to draw in swarms of butterflies. Though Black Tea dragons are full sized dragons, these insects are the mainstay of their diet.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Guardian is a dragon of many years, but still as healthy and strong as anyone. He enjoys basking in the sun's heat and long morning flights. He often has a small following of animals, sort of like pets. He is one of the founders of Ironsong and advises alpha Trinh in many of his decisions. he lives on the border of desert and jungle, a place where both biomes merge into one.

Guardian lives with his daughter, Whenevere, and her family. When Whijah, Whenevere's daughter, was a young hatchling, Guardian would look after her if neither parent was around. He is one of Emberwarden's mates, and although they only meet for mating seasons, and not very many of them either, he has never needed to find another mate.
