Seaweed Drakes are a playful, energetic, yet hostile breed that can be found across the coastline. Their name derives from their main food source: seaweed. While females tend to consume younger, fresher seaweed, males feed on seaweed that is much older, in turn pigmenting their scales the colour of the kelps on which they feed. The lighter greens and shiny blue help females to dazzle their partners during mating season. They live in large social groups with others of their kind, building nests from mud, branches, and rocks in which they will live for life. When the cold seasons settle in, Seaweed Drakes will retreat to the safety of nearby caves, but seek out and rebuild their nests once again when spring returns. Typically, they will spend their days searching for food or flying in the rain, but can occasionally be found napping on the shoreline, in lagoons, or in coastal canopies. The Drakes’ most feared feature, however, is their aggression; if threatened, adults will not hesitate to attack in their numbers, each emitting a malodorous stench from their bodily glands to confound their assailants.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.
