Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has a large, shield-like object at the end of its tail that it uses for protection.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Firstborn son of Shirube and Sister Rena, Marth is a highly intelligent and caring young dragon. At a very young age, he was diagnosed with Frozen Blood Disorder (FBD), which prevents him from further aging. Despite being small, he occasionally raises his tail-shield in an attempt to protect his mother. Marth will never run off to his father for protection, but rather dive behind his tail-shield when attacked playfully by Aino Minerva. When something really odd happens, Marth never crashes into it without thinking.

Unlike most FBD patients, Marth understands that he will never mature or have children. As if he wants to block it out, he immerses himself into research of this and other diseases. This poses no difficulty at all, since his intelligence allows him to understand and read Human language.
