Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Selvage was raised in a sewing and knitting supply maker's house, and now he works there, too. The masters had five children after his adoption, but since the two boys went on to become a teacher and librarian, respectively, Selvage is the only man in the business. He's disappointed that his significant other cannot join them because researching and crafting is actually interesting and keeps one's mind busy, but she's giant and lives in the ocean, so it'd be rather difficult. Other than a particular misfit pygmy who likes to play with the yarn and try to tie Selvage's tail to fabrics while he's asleep, nobody comes into the house to make trouble, and he enjoys the peace.
