Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The first thing Lilly can properly remember is her sister, Sally, standing above her and peering down at her. Sally was already a grown Whiptail when Lilly hatched, and to be stared at so intently was rather unnerving. The memory still is, actually, when she thinks about it.

It isn't something she thinks about often, however—her days and thoughts are kept busy by other things, such as races with her sister. And the advances of one decidedly determined Dorsal. She hasn't decided whether she'll accept him yet, but she is wavering—not that she'll tell him that. She wouldn't be his first mate, but if she gives in she'll be his last.
