And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Makodah Wyka Ants-Marching-Trunk, better known as Scrubber, works at a cereal mill among a workforce of 70. Most of the laborers are young-to-30-year-old humans, though there are a number of semi-permanent dragons like Scrubber; they're called semi-permanent simply because they live longer lives and can work for more years than the humans. Everyone is known by their job title unless they know each other personally, so people are called Manager, Security, Foreman, Miller, etc. Name changes are frequent: if Cook 3 leaves, Cook 4 becomes Cook 3 and so on. Scrubber sweeps the floor with her great wings and then spends much more time going at it once more with brushes and rags. It's hard work cleaning a place that is constantly being trodden, but from it, she has a great physique for an adolescent frilled, and having food to eat every day and being safe from predation is a pretty neat deal.
