Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When Aster came to Elders, she was under the impression that heritage was EVERYTHING. And she had the right heritage. Not some inbred mongrel.

But she soon learned her snooty behaviors were not tolerated by her clan mates. There had recently been a sharp increase of "inbred mongrels" who had proven themselves, even become heroes.

Considering one of their leaders had scorned her, it was a miracle Aster wasn't kicked out of Elders on principal alone. But that didn't mean she had many-in fact any-friends.

However, one day she was befriended unexpectedly. His name was Iz, and his friendship greatly eased the horrible solitude Aster had been facing. Iz helped her befriend many of the other dragons and she became quite grateful to him. Even possibly bearing a small crush on him.

Until she discovered his lineage.

She'd been tainted by a stupid mutt, a mongrel. Fooled by a charlatan. Aster refused his friendship coolly after learning this fact. Sometimes a leopard just can't change her spots.
