Azure Glacewing Dragons are one of the largest breeds. They grow to overwhelming sizes; folklore tells of ancient dragons outgrowing even lakes and mountains. They are quite oblivious in nature, and rarely care for—or even notice—the presence of other, smaller creatures. When hungry, an Azure Glacewing might strike suddenly, securing a tasty snack. An adult Glacewing is often more commonly found in the sea than in the sky or on land, due to their enormous weight. However, come mating season, Azure Glacewings return to the forests in which they were born, so that the young have lots of game to feed on.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hoj is a collector of people named Emma and Cato. A few scores ago, he learned that if he wanted everything to stay in top shape, he couldn't keep them in a cave like a normal hoard. With help from his humans, he built a big house with wall shelving, each shelf divided into spaces about three humans long. To viewers, the shelves look like four stories of housing units, especially since Hoj allows everyone to leave and return and furnish their areas as they like. He finds more items for his collection by traveling and asking humans their names, and if they say Emma or Cato, he takes them. For some reason, some people lie that they are named Emma or Cato, and he has to put them back where they came from once he learns their real names. Other dragons have asked Hoj why he chose these arbitrary things to collect and why he spends so much to keep them nice, but he says it's no different from hoarding jewels and working to keep them polished. Everyone agrees that it's an interesting hobby.
