And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Psychomorris Dorkface owns a slide. He is convinced he used his budding mind-control powers to get Wrapped in Dikes to build it for him, though the wrapping-wing was planning to make a play structure even without the little desipis's prompting. Psychomorris's prompting did sway Wrapped in Dikes, though, so he built the tallest slide in Nworset for him. One day some other wyrmlings were roughhousing near the top of the slide when one fell off and got hurt. Psychomorris became afraid that if others hurt themselves playing on his slide that the adults would declare the structure unsafe and tear it down, so he implemented some guidelines to prevent further accidents. These safety instructions are known as the Slide Rules, and Psychomorris, who enforces them, is the Slide Ruler.
