Fire Gem Dragons are a colorful, flamboyant breed often found in hot climates, particularly around active volcanoes. Their broad tails store the flames they breathe, which are colored by the heavy amount of minerals in the water they drink. These dragons come in a variety of colors, and will collect shiny trinkets and stones that match their own coloration. Despite their hoarding tendencies, though, Fire Gem dragons are social and will often congregate in groups and show off their collections while fawning over the stones their friends and rivals have gathered, occasionally arranging trades.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Catastrophe is a vicious and unfriendly creature who dwells deep within her Clan's Main Caverns. She has established for herself a small territory of caves that she possessively lets no other dragon enter. The only time she is social is when engaging in the trade of gems; though she seems like the kind to be stubborn, she is actually rather quick to fawn over others' hordes and her personality becomes much more cheerful when she's bartering. However, should someone try to overprice something she wants, she'll quickly turn back into the grumpy sap she's known to be.
