Waterhorse Dragons received their name due to their horse-like physique and endearing behavior. They are capable of surviving out of water, and when on land their skin secretes a gelatinous goo to retain moisture. However, their large paddle feet are better suited for swimming, and waterhorse dragons tend to move very awkwardly when on land. Waterhorses are very friendly dragons and enjoy playing with humans.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

1O0P5 fell into a distorted region of spacetime caused by the confluence of wild pools of time and darkness magic, which those trapped inside call "the Submachines" for reasons she has yet to find out. Some of the places in this region "loop" into themselves so that walking in a straight line leads one back to were they started. 1O0P5 has become obsessed with these structures ever since she first fell into one and was rescued by that pink with the missing foreleg, Murtaugh, who explained how to navigate a region where time functions the same as space. 1O0P5 has had to learn how to use the same objects as everyone else, though with her broad, rubbery feet, she isn't very good at some things. She keeps dropping her pencil into the infinite voids of nothingness that scatter the region when she tries to take notes and saying, "oops!"
