Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Chitrang Nuria was found as an egg by the human Ember Nuria. Her black, yellow-striped egg was hidden in a blackberry bush, surrounded by ripe berries. Ember had been looking for an egg so that her lonely hatchling, Raya, would have a friend. Young Raya was a green striped dragon, and despite all his effort, he couldn't yet the other dragons to play with him. Chitrang immediately warmed up to him. She had him as a friend the moment she hatched, and every moment from then after. They loved to pounce on insects, Raya preferring grasshoppers and she preferring black beetles, and they were always found together, chasing, pouncing, and wresting. Their favorite places to play were near blackberry bushes or ivy, and after a long day they could be found curled up together in a bed of leaves and twigs. When the two dragons grew up, Chitrang found herself falling in love with the handsome, playful Raya. They found an ivy-ridden cave in the tallest mountain of Elgar, and there they still dwell.
