Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. When it’s hungry, it makes a shrill mewing sound that tugs at your heart.

And look! Its wings have grown larger! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Mealtime is described as a big eater, but he's also energetic and nosy, always looking for new hobbies and ventures and often trying to get involved in matters he shouldn't. His parents' worries that he might grow large and sluggish from overeating have not come to pass. Lately, he's been saying that he'd make a good researcher at the Blueflint House of Animal Behavior because of his observational skills and ability to move around quietly, though his family and peers wonder if the social aspect of that work might grate on him before long. His favorite time of day is mealtime. Snacktime is a close second.
