Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It shrieks for food everytime you get close.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

User Description

For many long and peaceful years, a particular mountain chain had been free of Seragamma Wyverns. Thus it was a cause of great distress for all the local merchants when a small breeding flock of the beasts was one day spotted settling in, a sure sign that terror and chaos would once again interrupt their trade routes. Accordingly a group of warriors was soon sent into the mountains, tasked with driving off the dragons.

The adults of the flock were vicious and not easily convinced to leave, and so the task of removing them soon became the grim task of slaying them. But once the parents were gone, the troop's wizard found himself with a dilemma: what to do with the hatchlings they had left behind. Taking pity on the small creatures, but also knowing they could never be allowed to grow up, he cast a spell upon them that made them forever young. They can be seen flitting around the mountains even still, hunting mice and birds and other such quarry, quite harmless to humans.
