Ice Dragons are fierce predators who hunt using their extremely cold breath. The breath of an ice dragon can freeze its prey solid in seconds. The body of an ice dragon is so cold that icicles will form along its skin no matter the outside temperature.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sutro is fearsome and quick to anger, but she's also agreeable and easily swayed by reasonable-sounding arguments. Oftentimes, surviving one of her icy and sharp attacks involves creating distance for a minute while loudly speaking out on why it'd be a good idea for her to halt, or creating distance for a minute and starting a conversation about something unrelated to what caused her offense. The latter strategy has been so effective that there are people who have become friends or contacts to Sutro by just talking, albeit ones who still have to be wary around her. She is surprisingly knowledgeable about eucalyptus, despite living a great distance away from the nearest known grove of eucalyptus. Nobody including herself knows why she's called Mount Sutro, since "Sutro" is not a familiar name, and her territory is flat tundra.
