Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It gives off a glow that lights up the cave.

Look, it’s grown frills, and the glow around it has become even brighter.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Starryn lives with Jewel and Starliyt (his grandparents), and is just as bad as them. He is a spoilt brat, and Starliyt has taught him to be rather too fond of his appearance. He tends to lord it over the other hatchlings, adopting a superior attitute and ordering them about. As a result he doesn't have many friends.

Jewel and Starliyt are both so wrapped up in themselves that they don't pay all that much attention to little Starryn.
