Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Swift, sleek, and savvy, Flashbreak is by far the best hunter of the striped clan in her large pack. She never sets out without coming back with food, and often has enough to share around despite the small size of her prey. She is an excellent ratter in particular, digging rodents out of their holes with amazing speed and carrying them back to the cave for the hatchlings by the mouthful.

Her favorite food by far, though, is the iridescent dragonflies that abound near the lake—not only do they pose something of a challenge, but they are sweet and crunchy and give the most exciting little wriggly tickles on the way down! Watching her leap and spin and twirl as she chases them down gives one a true appreciation for her speed and agility.
