Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dream is as regal as they come—quiet, controlled, and yet with that shimmering quality that makes everyone else in the pack seem drab in comparison. Her personality is a bit of an enigma; though her responses to her scrollmates are warm, affectionate, and gentle, there is an aura of disconnection about her—as if the better part of her mind and heart are far away.

Far from seeming lonely, however, this only adds to her mystique—she seems quite content with her disconnection, appearing to have one foot in a world that the others cannot see or sense or touch. No one is ever in her presence for long without feeling a vague ache of desire, a wish to see through her eyes and behold whatever it is that has so enthralled her inner spirit.
