Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It gives off a glow that lights up the cave.

Look, it’s grown frills, and the glow around it has become even brighter.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

The young son of "The Lustrous One", James's Wish is babied and favored above all other hatchlings in the cave. He is petted, catered to, and complimented to the point where it's strange for him to simply stroll anywhere without receiving any sort of acknowledgment. The "Young Lustrous One", as some tend to call him, doesn't let the attention get to his little head and remains humble. For fun, some of the dragons have taken to making a wish upon him if they see him at a certain time of day, usually 11:11.
