Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has a large, shield-like object at the end of its tail that it uses for protection.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

McGuardy is a bit of a stick in the mud, so much so that the other hatchlings have taken to calling her Miss Safety. She is constantly warning them about dangerous behavior and the consequences of their actions. She greatly disapproves of their scheming to cook Eischen's Fried Chicken and even aids the poor chicken in her escapes sometimes. She does participate in some of the hatchlings' games, just none of the overly dangerous ones. She much prefers to watch from the sidelines and scold her fellow hatchlings during those games.
