And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
User Description
Flamestone the Shy is the first born Daughter to Sun Devil the Ruthless and Neliea the shy. Born without eyes, she gets around by smell and feel alone. Because this became more and more of a problem as she got bigger and the echos in the cave from other dragons caused confusion for her, she was frozen so that she could learn at just one size. Flamestone is shy because she feels like an eyeless failure, though she can defend herself better than any other hatchling in a fight because she can't fly without being able to see.
Some of the other dragons whisper that she was born without eyes as a punishment for Sun Devil taking more than one mate.
