Pink Dragons are primarily herbivores and only eat meat during the mating season, when mates will exchange kills. When it is not breeding season, pink dragons spend most of their time incubating eggs and caring for their clan’s young. Due to their feminine color, it was traditionally thought that pink dragons were a strictly female breed, but this is not true.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Yavi Gentleclaw is Jesstin's devoted mate and, like him, not the sort of dragon one would expect to find in a place like Firebright Weyr.  She'd always wanted a challenge, though—to be one of the only egg and hatchling tenders, instead of just one of many.  Yavi doesn't mind that Firebright Weyr is isolated, sparsely populated, and rather inhospitable—it makes her feel more needed.  When not tending to the young, Yavi can usually be found keeping an eye on Zyggas, who when caught up with his latest invention displays all the restraint and control of a hatchling.
