Sunset Dragons are closely related to sunrise dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunset Dragons generally live alone or in small packs. They are more active in the evening, hunting and performing all of their daily tasks as the sun sets.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Despite the creation of the first Sunrise dragon, the archangel Lyzar's work was not yet complete.  'As there is a dragon for the rising sun, as such there shall be a dragon for the setting sun.'  With a quill plucked from her own wing, and ink made from the crushed scales of a wyvern, she sketched an ominous beast to rule the evening sky.  With a Celestial command of 'Arise!' the parchment flared to life and the Sunset Patriarch was born.  He took his position at the left side of Lyzar's throne, and remains there to this day.

Fiercely territorial, the Patriarch tolerates few other dragons in his presence other than his mate and the two foundation Sunrise dragons.  Of the four throne guardians, he is strongest with regard to brute force, and his imposing presence commands respect.
