Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. This hatchling seems to be filled with a fell, inner flame.

And look! Its wings have grown, and it’s become rather vicious and wary of others of its kind.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Hellflame the Dangerous is the first born son of Sun Devil the Ruthless and Fellra the Dangerous. Though he was a spirited hatchling and showed great promise, he suddenly fell ill with a rare and debilitating disease that was going to kill him before adulthood. After frantic searching, the white dragons of his cave did find a cure, but he was so sick that the only way to give him enough time to survive was to freeze him. He spends his days training, telling all who will listen that just because of his small size doesn't mean he doesn't pack a wallop. The other dragons agreed after he single-handedly chased off a mountain lion that attempted to attack the other hatchlings in the cave.

Like his sister, the dragons talk about him in whispers, saying he got the disease because his father had taken more than one mate.
