Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Re-Harakhty is a magnificently handsome dragon, particularly when he flies at noonday when the sun can catch his shining golden body just right—ting!. He enjoys this perhaps a bit too much, but his harmless vanity never crosses the line into outright egotism, so his fellow dragons tolerate it with only the occasional snicker. (His half-brother Modi Thorsson, a fog dragon, will occasionally cause a cloud to blot out the sun at just the right moment, leading to a brotherly spat-and-scuffle. Really, they're quite fond of each other, but brothers will be brothers.) He is also half Guardian through his father, and has a distinct sense of responsibility and duty to his fellow dragons, particularly hatchlings, and can often be seen giving the babies rides, or letting them climb and cavort all around him.
