Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nyxiounesse is the Black daughter of the family heads Duskglider the Black and Glacioulnesse the Winter. While she is as powerful a fighter as her father and Winter brother FrostFlyer, she doesn't take battle as seriously as they do, regarding it as more of a hobby than an occupation. Her interests are very broad and the she is often seen learning gardening from Camreth the Earth, meditation from her mother Glacioulnesse, magic from Fierozasion the Magi, healing from PeaceFlight the White, music from Amarinthe the Stone, pattern flying from CloudFlare the Skywing, collecting treasures from PearlWave the Water and even burrowing from VenomRoot the Vine and his sons. She spends her day visiting and talking to dragons and later practising everything she has learnt from them. She also enjoys going for long flights on her own, often disappearing for days before she returns with trophies she has won from the events she took part in.
