Sunrise Dragons are closely related to sunset dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunrise Dragons prefer to live in large groups and enjoy basking in the early morning sun. They are usually most active in the morning, and go to sleep in the early evening.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The archangel Lyzar's quill, a feather plucked from her own wings, darted across the parchment.  The ink formed an image of a great dragoness, both beautiful and sagacious in appearance.  Lyzar held the parchment up to the rising sun, and issued a powerful command in the Celestial tongue.  In essence, the word was, 'Arise!'

The paper flared, and as light flooded the sanctuary, the first Sunrise Dragon came into being.

To this day, the Matriarch lies at the right hand of Lyzar's throne, a wise guardian and advisor.  Of the four dragons, she is the most dominant, but is also considered to be the most beautiful.  As the sun rises, she spreads her wings to catch the rays, filling the entire sanctuary with a brilliant spectrum of red and purple.
