Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Despite being as black as outer space, it has a few bright patterns on it.

And look! It has grown wings and its scales have gained beautiful patterns. It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Prophette observes the skies each night, believing the stars predict the future. She first observed a supernova in progress six months ago, and determined that it means the world will end in two years, seven months and three days.

Terrified, she consulted other dragons about what to do. They laughed at her and told her she misinterpreted the stars, but could not tell her what her specific mistake was because they did not really look at what she described. Frustrated and worried, Prophette tells all she meets that the end of the world is coming; she is largely ignored.
