Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.
Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.
This dragon has narrow band sound-to-color synesthesia. This means that when he hears musical tones, he sees bands of colors; additionally, certain types of percussion cause dark spots to dance across his view.
One day, Onzya heard a singing bard passing by. He used his telepathy to project the images the music caused him to see. The bard stopped, surprised; once she understood what was going on, she tried musical variations to see what kinds of pictures she could create. After a very enjoyable afternoon, they agreed to meet periodically to continue painting with the music.
When the bard pleases him—which is nearly every time they meet—Onzya rewards her with one of his shed scales.
