Some of its magma has hardened, maybe this means something?

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Lavaland is one of Phoenix's dragons. She is a little slow in the head and also in the feet, but she is nevertheless friendly and open, if not a bit naive. She, like her mother Meltedrock, is a subject of interest solely because she can keep people warm. All the other hatchlings cluster around her and Meltedrock to stay warm, and for these reasons Lavaland is very popular among them. She is also helper to Tinselfrost, the medic, in keeping sick eggs warm.
