Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

I'll Tear You Apart is one of Phoenix's dragons. As one of the Circle of Elders, he holds much respect among the clan and is a difficult opponent in battle; his scar-riddled hide is a testament to his experience. His only match is I Sense in the Wind, another of the elder circle.

In his younger days, Apart was quite violent and quick to anger, but his age seems to have tempered him a bit. He is generally calm, and is very patient with misbehaving hatchlings (although a select few would testify otherwise, and report that his teeth are as big as elephant tusks -- a slight exaggeration, considering none have ever seen an elephant) and is glad to teach them what he knows about battle and strategy. He can entertain hatchlings with cabin fever for hours.

Though he has had many children, Apart has no mate. His former one was Pelt of Ferns, and they spent many years together, but after one of their daughters, Misfit Predator, went wrong, they agreed to go their separate ways.
