Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When Victoria Fiera was young, it was many years before she was given her true name.  One night as she slept, she experienced a strange vision.  After journeying through a misty forest, she came across a pool of water and looked at her reflection.  Staring back at her was a young girl with flaming red hair.  The girl mimicked every action the young dragoness made, such that she realized she was staring at another projection of herself.  As the vision progressed, the girl matured into a brilliant general who led a small group of warriors to victory against a vast army, driving them back with magical ruby-colored flames.

When the dragoness awoke, she hurried quickly to Zlataisa the shamaness.  Zlataisa explained that it was a vision of things to come, and as such, bestowed on Victoria her name, meaning Triumph of Flames.

Victoria prefers a peaceful life, and often doubts the veracity of Zlataisa's predictions.  However, she breathes a ruby-colored flame.
