Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Icicles keep forming on its body, but it doesn’t seem to be bothered by the cold.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Zepharica is the second oldest child of Icrin and Aciarix. She suffers from Peter Pan Syndrome, which prevents her from aging. When this became apparent, her parents stopped treating her like she would some day become self-sufficient, which frustrated her. This eventually led to her running away, and she became apt to do many things she was always told not to do—walk alone after dark, preform extreme dares, get involved with the military, and talk to strangers. She then lived for a time far from her parents.

Zepharica then spent a while working in the town's military, often participating in skirmishes with the humans in the southeast, until she was captured by the humans trying to do a solo raid on a grain silo. She was imprisoned and carted far to the east. Eventually, she escaped and met up with a skye-loving clan of dragons who spent much of their time in flight. She joined them and learned their strange religion from their leader, Gilnerath. She is now part of the Clan of Skye.
