When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Wily Waterbug lives in a lake near the cave. He is extremely easygoing but also lazy. He enjoys feeling the water run over his skin as his floats, so he rarely does anything other then float lazily in the water. His mate Blessed Tempest, who is not quite as laid back as he, can sometimes nag him into catching fish for the stores. That is one of the few times he actually does any work. His mate is extremely uptight and temperamental, and so he can calm her down and keep her balanced with his laid-back attitude. In this way they both bring out the best in the other. The children they produce tend to have widely varied and dangerous personalities. Their family is one of the most conflicting and warring in the cave. Anyone born into the family seems to hold a grudge against another family member for some reason or another.
