Spitfires are a desert breed of dragon. Their dull brown bodies contrast with their brilliant turquoise markings, and they only blaze brighter when these dragons fight. Spitfires are notorious for their territorial natures, and the wing-edges of most are ripped and tattered before their first year is out. Spitfires are also noteworthy for their brilliant blue fire, which is used not for hunting or fighting, but rather for making glass caves from the sand, in which the dragons can soak up the sun.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

"Camry is the sweetest thing that ever walked the earth," Agatha will say, "Except when she's mad." It is true that when Camry is glad, there is no one more glad than she; and when she is mad, all had better hide for safety. Her emotions are violent and sudden, but thankfully she does not have much to upset her, for she loves Nrogara and the Nest, and she adores her parents, Darcy and Nia, and her mate, Beren. When Camry was born, Beren had already left to go adventuring, and so she did not know him till she was grown, and he came home full of wonderful tales. She thought he was surely the bravest thing to walk the earth, and he thought her to be the prettiest. One would think her fits would convince him otherwise, but Beren has seen much of the world and knows that no person is without their faults, and when she is around him, Camry tries very hard to tame herself.
