Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Helena Concutio became a vampire, but with more than a little bit of damage to her brain. She usually can't think straight or really think about anything other than the security of her den. Almost her entire thing is security. Nobody knows how or why.

She'll attempt to convert eggs to vampires every month, no matter what the circumstances, and keep them around her den to bite other eggs and make sure that she's safe and that her den is safe. There'll be nothing guarding her from maximum security.

Helena is also obsessed with protecting Corin Deeth III, a dragon that lives near her that she's infatuated with, and will often go to extreme measures to make sure that he's safe. She's usually pushed away.

Well, to make it fair, she is a vampire. That also may quite possibly be a bit insane. Corin has a reason to keep her far away.
