Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Draimist's egg was left outside the Tolander clan cave with 'Draimi' written in blood on a piece of parchment nearby. Lutesren deduced that this was supposed to mean that the dragon inside would, in time, kill Draimi and take his place as clanleader. The clan decided that the only safe option was to take him in and care for him as one of their own (the 11th of the clan), so he would have no reason to resent Draimi.<br/>Now an adult, Draimist (of course he could not take the name 'Draimi') has no knowledge of his past, or at least the clan supposes not; Draimist seems catatonic. Skolyra guards him much as she did when he was an egg. She is the only one who cares whether he lives or dies.
