Black Truffle Dragons are one of the rarest breeds—though this was not always the case. Once, these dragons were quite prolific, but their musky-smelling secretions were found to be useful in the making of perfumes and scented oils, leading the dragons to be hunted near the point of extinction. Now, these dragons live far away from humans and will only share their oil with those they deem worthy of this gift, those possessing a pure heart and selfless spirit.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

It is as if nobody knew her. The minute anyone saw her she was gone. Balsam left everything she had for something more; but in the end she ended up with nothing.

She never spoke a word, and the dragons who raised her wondered if she picked up any language skills at all.

She did, of course, but was so afraid to speak she made a promise to herself to never speak unless she met "him" again.

He was an unnamed, withered old soul who had died and then relived as an undead, only to die again. He was not meant to be raised from the dead, and therefore Balsam swore to herself to put him out of his misery.

She had loved him for the while he was alive, but had been rejected for a dragon who had only deceived him. She never completely healed from that accident...

Her saddened face and depressed mood make her an awful dragon to be around today, and she still avoids other dragons and humans when possible. If only the other dragons knew what it takes to let her bloom once more...
