Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Born to wild dragons and abandoned early on, Frost of the Night does not remember his parents. Luckily, the icy winter dragon was taken in by other seasonal dragons, and was surrounded by their kindness. This did not comfort him, however, and he was soon consumed by the jealousy he felt towards the other hatchlings and their parents. His heart became as cold as the rest of his body, and was now anti-social and not confident in himself. Reaching full maturity, he was outcast by his caretakers, and wandered throughout the cave on his own, unable to find a permanent dwelling. Eventually, he met another dragon who was as lonely as he was, a dragon by the name of Fang of Sorrows. Knowing her feelings better than anyone else, he quickly befriended her, and the two became mates. Now, it would be difficult to find them alone, as they are always with each other. Late at night, a person may find the two of them outside together, sharing their newfound happiness under the starless the sky.
