Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Lila Flufftail was as beautiful as a winter sunset. Her wings of red and gold shimmered into her blue-white body, just barely revealing a snowflake pattern. For all her winter majesty though, she only had real power at Christmas time. During Christmas, she had boundless energy and goodwill which could be transferred to all living things; when the season passed, however, she became increasingly tired each day until she passed into a coma. Each year, the dreams she experienced during her non-Christmas hibernation became more frightening. Only her breed of Christmas Dragon suffered this fate, and Lila Flufftail didn't understand why. She hoped that there was a way to end this curse and was going to try to stay awake long enough to see the shaman.
