Pink Dragons are primarily herbivores and only eat meat during the mating season, when mates will exchange kills. When it is not breeding season, pink dragons spend most of their time incubating eggs and caring for their clan’s young. Due to their feminine color, it was traditionally thought that pink dragons were a strictly female breed, but this is not true.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

During the dark days of the Datamonster's first strike, Prodigal Son went on a long journey as a hatchling, before he'd even grown his wings. He vanished from the Sixstar caves, along with Six Blade Knife, a single translucent egg, and Shining Origin's first child. Though he returned a full-grown dragon, he still bears the scars of that journey; long lines of scales are missing from his sides, and his wings are tattered.

He refers to himself as Sixstar's Prodigal Son, keeping his birth name a secret—it's said that only he and his mate, Prodigal Prancer, know the truth. He and Prancer bestow the Prodigal name on all of their offspring, and wish the best to those eggs that must journey further before they may rest.
