Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

This male was born during a period of great coldness (informally known as "winter" to some), and he did not much care for it. Prone to sniffles and sneezes, he tolerated this horrific seasonal apocalypse only as long as he was forced to, taking off for the south the moment he was strong enough to survive on his own. The residents of the land he settled in were most welcoming to the newcomer, and he repaid their kindness in turn, soon seeing himself as a local guardian of sorts and doing his best to watch over them. Until now, this had meant simply helping out with chores and catching the occasional rogue, but lately he's begun to notice... things. Strange things; families suddenly moving out without a word of notice, pale strangers with sly smiles, and, above all else, a strange disease that's been killing left and right, causing blood loss without wounds. The regal gold has a troubling feeling he knows what he's up against, and this might be his greatest battle of all...
