Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

This female's life has never been easy, for a variety of reasons. Born a black-hued child in a family where golden offspring were more valued, and additionally not even closely resembling her other dark siblings, she's always been something of an outcast--especially when the fact that her mother is her father's mistress rather than mate is considered. Frequently harassed by both stepmother and half-siblings alike for what her birth represented, she left the nest as soon as she was able, and now lives a barren, solitary existence among the mountains. Some might find her final fate to be a lonely one, but she's glad of it, savoring the sweet air of the peaks and the feeling of freedom far more than the stuffy oppression of home.
