Thunder Dragons are the masters of electricity. Their wings gather energy as they soar through the clouds, and when they clap their wings together they can create devastating arcs of lightning. They can stay airborne nearly indefinitely, landing only to sleep and breed; they catch their prey from the air and take moisture from the clouds. A thunder dragon’s roar is considered to be an omen of misfortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Conceived during a sacred fertility ritual performed by his father and an offering, he was taught from the moment he cracked the shell that he was a vessel of the gods. The creation of his soul during the holy ceremony had been proof enough, but their deities showed them yet more; he grew stronger and swifter and sharper than any other within the clan, and under the care of the high priestess, his sire's true mate, he gained within brief years an understanding and devotion to their faith that matched that of the eldest diviners. It was for these reasons that he accepted the task his priest-mother had given him--no, the task the gods had given him--to seek out and destroy an old druid of the tribe, a blasphemer who had thought living sacrifice was too high a price for the love of their gods and had abandoned the clan accordingly.
