Failed attempts to experiment with magic often result in transforming dragons into these hellish creatures. They are extremely dangerous, and will mindlessly kill any living creature without regard to friend or foe.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Escaping has been a theme of a lifetime. Born another harvest among many, as a young dragon he escaped a crowded nest and wandered off into the wilderness beyond his home cave. He was captured, named, and raised, but was discontent in the role of a tame dragon. He tried family life and found eggs and young dragons deplorable. In the dark of the night he left his mate and made a break for the wilderness. Spotted leaving, he was pursued and killed by an over-enthusiastic dragon sent to recapture him. Yet even the grave was not enough to hold him down. All it took was a small dose of wild magic to rouse him. He clawed free of the restricting confines of his grave, free at last of the obligations and restraints of the living.
