Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

For a long time, wild winter-spirit dragons seemed to migrate in and out of the area in a peculiar way. Each year, a new egg would appear, but the eggs found in the wild in previous years were gone without a trace. There were eggs of those types bred in captivity, many of them—but no wild eggs. Not one. So when the Winter of Wishes came and Lurhstaap was able to bring home the older wild-born winter spirits at last, there was great rejoicing at the Breedery.

Though not quite as celebrated as the prestigious Hollies or the lovely Solstices, the two Snow Angels—dubbed Heavenly Chorus and Heavenly Song—were popular from the first. Song was named for her love of music. She often uses her magic to conjure ethereal music to sing along with. Even the darkest, most heartless Breedery dragons cannot help but stop and listen, spellbound, to the Snow Angel's flawless performances. Song has no ego investment in this. She sings for the joy of it, and because it brings joy to others.
